“follow your bliss and doors will open for you where you didn’t know they were going to be”
i met a new friend, a forever friend this weekend. the type of friend that walks unknowingly into your life, who sees the world with a parallel lens, a dreamer, thinker, one of the people who thrives on the meaningful conversations – asks the questions that make you dig a little deeper. a person who loves.
a friend who understands what it means to fly free with your hopes – dreams.
to LIVE in the moment.
i began following her on instagram through a mutual friend, she posted a self portrait that said “not all that wander are lost” and i had an intuitive feeling this was a girl living her life just like myself in montana. a girl with a great big dream to be free and really experience life.
we began a conversation about how she wanted to come to chicago and not before long alicia had booked a flight to second shoot the first wedding of 2013 with me. the best part of this all is that neither of us questioned one another - there’s something about being able to perceive authentic people.
we were right about this crazy idea – our paths were meant to come together
we drank yummy coffee + ate at the best spot in chicago – the purple pig, where we shared so much of our lives with each other feelings about love, friendships, life and creativity. the type of conversation that fuels the soul, makes you think, and feel. the kind that makes you laugh. it was over dinner and a glass of wine i realized i had made a new friend for life. not a surface friend – a real friend.
there was something about having her by my side for kristin + johns wedding (cannot wait to share those photographs soon!) that allowed me to photograph from my heart – the true place of me. almost as if she was mirroring something inside of me by just being around that forced me to really push myself creatively.
all the good friends do that – unknowingly encourage you to be the very best you can be.
alicia thank you for all you gave to me by just being you – free bird.
